What is Spirit Made up of?
In the movie, 21 grams we were told that “it” weighed 21 grams. http://www.snopes.com/religion/soulweight. In the movie Star Wars, Artoo Detoo projects a miniature three dimensional image of Princess Leia. Luke watches as the seemingly live miniature ghost like hologram begs for someone named Obi wan Kenoby to come to her rescue. The image is a hologram made with the aid of a laser.

Science is beginning to come to the realization that the universe itself is a giant hologram. There is evidence to suggest that our reality and everything in it are also only ghostly images; projections from a level of reality that is beyond both space and time. A new scientific story is emerging offering evidence that all matter exists in a vast web of connectedness. It is a story that resonates deeply within me as it suggests that we are all one. I know this is true without having the requisite scientific evidence. I decided to seek out evidence and see if I could paint a picture given the current state of science.
I uncovered two of the world’s most eminent proponents of this view point during my literary review of related research: Karl Pribram, a neurophysiologist at Stanford University http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_H._Pribram and Physicist David Bohm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bohm It seems that each of them arrived at the same conclusion working independently and from seemingly different vantage points. http://everythingforever.com/Bohm.htm Bohm became convinced of the universe’s holographic nature after years of being unable to explain many phenomena he encountered in the quantum arena using standard theories found in the contemporary researchers tool box. Pribram came to the same conclusion as he hit a brick wall when attempting to tie out neurophysiological puzzles he found while doing his research on brain function.
Strangely, they both found that the holographic model seemed to more fully explain their findings as well as a number of other mysteries that concurrent scientific theory has been unable to fully address. The holographic model begins to make sense of telepathy, precognition, feelings of oneness with the universe, even psychokinesis. Most importantly they found that a hologram was like a quantum filing cabinet in which information is infolded, and stored in quantum waves. Take two steps into this conceptualization and consider the idea that we are, as spirit, in fact, an electromagnetic field in the form of a Holographic entity. When the ancient theological texts spoke of spirit, they spoke in terms of many lives, information from past lives accessed via channeling, old souls, new souls, immortality sounding much like a virtual filing cabinet whereas the user, (the seer) could access through prayer, channeling, mediation. The holographic model begins to explain a lot of ideas found in theological texts using concepts like Entanglement and the Zero Point Field to ground them in science to a limited extent. (limited because we cannot illustrate using Quantum Mechanics or any sort of a unified theory that would stand up to peer review). As of this point, we discount consciousness which is the essence of spirit since we have no way to measure it hence, it cannot be entered into Quantum Mechanics as an impacting coefficient.
Bohm considered the universe a giant headquarters of wholeness, unbroken, always present in some invisible domain beyond space and time; or know as the zero point field. A field of all possibility, there to be called forth and made explicate or manifest as needed. A place where time and space are no longer of substance. A place where particles are entangled as Niels Bohrs, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Bohr a Noble Prize winning pioneer of quantum physics posits. Further more, in 1982 at the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. Aspect discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn’t matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart. Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing.
http://www.rense.com/general69/holoff.htm I can go on for days on how I saw this concept surface and correlate with most all the major religions’ I reviewed during my literary review on the topic. All pointing to the same star. Prayer, meditation and similar rituals that train the brain to attain and stay at a particular wave type (“The Faith Wave” as I have coined while observing Monks going into and maintaining it while having their brain waves measured via electroencephalograph - see Richard Davidson University of Wis.) http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.02/dalai.htm thereby initiating connection with this field and beginning to interact with it. In my book the Point of Power http://www.amazon.com/Point-Power-Change-Your-Thoughts/dp/098324720X I condense this all to a three step human technology by which I posit all humans interact with the universe and initiate manifestation of a desire. Intend, Declare and Detach are the three steps that appear to initiate and allow the process of manifestation. A process whereby thoughts become matter. I believe as we get closer to a unified theory that includes a more refined Hologram Model we will begin to see more clearly how this all works from a scientific perspective and how Humans interact with universal forces to manifest while here in the Natural.
Pribram believed that the brain uses quantum waves like a hologram to store vast quantities of information. This hologram model gave Pribram a model of how the brain can carry out localized tasks but store and process data from a gestalt position or better yet within the Zero Point Field using the holographic model. In 1982 Alain Aspect at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Optics in Paris demonstrated that the web of atomic particles that compose our physical universe, i.e. the very fabric, possesses what appears to be undeniable “holographic” properties. Michael Talbot in his book the Holographic Universe http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2011/07/are-we-living-in-a-holographic-universe-this-may-be-the-greatest-revolution-of-the-21st-century.html took these ideas and expanded upon them. He suggests that we humans wish to pigeon hole and categorize, while in actuality the Universe interpenetrates everything, and that everything is connected. Talbot goes on to suggest that the “all in the small” was the key. The idea that each particle had in it everything it needed to be the whole even in it’s reductive current state. Similar to a DNA strand having the makings of the eventual human being that it is destined to become.
In 1980 University of Connecticut physiologist Dr Kenneth Ring proposed that near death experiences could be explained by the the Holographic model. Ring suggests that death is merely a shifting of a person’s consciousness. http://www.inplainsite.org/html/near_death_experiences_1.html
In 1985 Dr Stanislave Grof Chief of psychiatric research at Maryland Psychiatric research center http://www.holotropic.com/bio_stan-grof.shtml concluded that existing neurophysiological models of the brain were inadequate and only a holographic model could explain archetypal experiences, encounters with the collective unconscious and other phenomena experienced during altered states of consciousness.
1987 Dr F. David Peat a physicist at Queens University in Canada, http://quanta-gaia.org/reviews/books/holoUniverse.html offers up that synchronicity can be explained using a holographic model. Peat says coincidences are actually a flaw in the fabric of reality. That they illustrate how tightly tied our mental thought processes are connected to our physical reality.
In closing, because the holographic paradigm is very much an idea in the making and must cross over into several areas - possibly along the lines illustrated by M theory, which is an extension of string theory; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-theory it cannot be called a true model or theory until we are able to unify the disparate points of view caused when moving toward the core of the science. It seems the further we go, the more we realize we do not know and the more questions are raised. As I suggested in the beginning, we cannot measure consciousness, spirit, or soul, but I know it exists and is ultimately the most powerful tool we have in manifesting our life while here in the natural. Observe your thoughts, they become your reality. More importantly, they program your spirit on how it will initiate the next life situation or lesson. It is the quality of one’s consciousness in the present moment that dictates the next interaction with the universe, either in alignment with one’s intention or not. Come from spirit, love, compassion, and understanding and watch as your world changes before your eyes even while at battle or in conflict. As you script your next thought, new neuropathways are created, spirit encoded and your life unfolds in alignment with this present moment experience ready for the next. Either in alignment with your desire or not.

“Think Yourself Young” now available on Kindle — I discuss diet and meditation techniques according to the Tibetan Monks that I was able to interview living amongst them while at the Lama Temple in Beijing, China. These folks appear to be able to stop physiological time dead in its tracks, with the net result being a high-quality life beyond 120 years.
